The Calabash

When Lancia and I started seeing each other
We promised to be true to the course
Even when the truth wasn't worth standing for.
In a spirit of companionship
We decided to buy a calabash
That would be a custodian of our love
And a reminder of what we have.
We invested our love,
Our finances,
Our emotions,
Into that tiny calabash.
Our ups and down,
Our narrows and wide,
Our memories,
And all our valuables
All under one roof.
Our tiny calabash.
Not a single day would pass
Without a deposit
As days went by
So was our investment evident.
It kept doubling and trippling
It was suprising how much this tiny calabash could hold.
Million tonnes of love and emotions
And a life of two love birds bound.
That's is why no matter how mad I am,
Or how right she is
We always find a way to put aside our differences
And let the calabash be our reference
Our custodian and spring of our love.
We all want to keep it safe
We can't break it
As it is much greater than both us.
It has been 47 years and we are still together,
Me and Lancia,
Together with our calabash.
Our calabash love is indefatigable.
